Adding Multiple Authors to Your Blog

In the case of wanting to create a blog to share authorship amongst a grade team, you need to add multiple authors. This is a relatively easy task but currently has one little work-around for CBE teachers. The one problem we currently have in the CBE is that our G Suite/Google email address [username@educbe.ca] will not except any external emails. To set up another author on your blog you‘ll need to send the new author an invite. This the email they receive would be considered an external email as it comes from Google/Blogger. To get around this you’ll need to send the invite to the any new CBE authors to their corporate email address [username@cbe.ab.ca].

Follow the process below to invite new authors to your blog.

  1. Go to your main author page find general Settings near the bottom and then Basic
  2. Look for the Permissions area and click on Add Authors
  3. Type in the email address[es] of the colleagues you want to add. Remember to send it to their username@cbe.ab.ca email. Separate each email address by a comma. Click on Invite Authors to send the invitation.

  4. PLEASE NOTE: Before your colleague [the new author] accepts the invitation it is a good idea to sign out of any personal Google accounts you might be signed into on your web browser (this is because when you accept the invitation, it will take you directly to the account that is currently signed in to, and will ask you to accept the invite.
  5. Once ensuring that all personal Google accounts are signed out, your colleague will need to go to their CBE email, find the invite, and accept the invitation. You may need to sign here.

  6. Once the invitation has been accepted, the new author will be taken to the main author page.
  7. You can check the a status of your permissions by going back to the Basic Settings and looking at the current authors. From here you can also change the other other author’s permission from Author to Admin so they can makes all changes to the blog.
  8. Once an author has Admin permissions, they are basically considered a co-owner. Should someone from the grade team leave the school, you can easily remove them from the blog completely. To remove someone and transfer ownership, go to Basic Settings and click in the X next to the author’s name you want to remove from the blog. Anyone that remains listed in the Blog Author list and also has admin permissions, will [co]own the blog.

  9. You should now have multiple authors set up on your blog.
